We visited Tenku Terrace OOLOO in Nanjo, about 40 minutes by car from Naha Airport.

Okinawa’s northern and southern coasts are both well known, and the south has many scenic cafés that local couples also enjoy.

Entering the café brings Okinawa’s southern sea directly into view.
The scenery is an immediate surprise.
High above the water, with full-height windows on the sea side, it almost feels as though you are floating over the ocean.
The ‘terrace in the sky’ name makes sense.

The lunch menu is full of appealing dishes.
Local wagyu cutlet sets, Agu pork-and-cheese hamburger steak, OOLOO’s special omurice, and Shrimp Passion Cream all looked good in the photos.
We ordered the local wagyu cutlet set, then limited to five servings per day, and the Shrimp Passion Cream.

Ordering a main dish included unlimited use of the salad bar.
Compared with cafés charging separately for every dish and drink, the included salad bar made the meal feel good value.

The selection at the bar was substantial too.
Corn soup and soft-cooked onsen eggs were available to add as you liked.

Desserts were also sold separately nearby.
The flowerpot presentation was almost too cute to eat.

The Shrimp Passion Cream arrived.
The shrimp were larger than expected.
Salad accompanied a main of sweet, rich shrimp with mayonnaise-style sauce.

Next came the wagyu cutlet set.
The cutlet was crisp outside and tender and rare within, with sweet, soy-based, and hot sauces.
Choose whichever combination you prefer.
Soy sauce and wasabi were an especially good match for the beef cutlet.

After enjoying lunch, we ordered a dessert set too.
It included almond ice cream, a strawberry cake sandwich, gâteau au chocolat, and fruit jelly.
Every part was enjoyable.

When we stepped outside for photos, other diners seemed to finish at much the same time and gathered on the terrace as well.

The view from the terrace sofa fully lives up to the café’s name.

Even an Okinawan shisa guardian would have trouble resisting this view.

A five-minute drive from the café takes you down to the sea visible from above.
Local residents were gathered in small groups to fish.
Beautiful southern Okinawa seas spread out below, with an attractive and enjoyable lunch.
Above all, Tenku Terrace OOLOO is a lovely setting for photographs.
It is worth considering on a trip around southern Okinawa.
