Kyoto’s night-art event NAKED meets 二条城 2026 was announced for October 23–December 5. Hours were 6–10 p.m., with last admission at 9 p.m. Standard tickets purchased from October 23 cost JPY 2,000 for high-school students and older on nonholiday Monday–Thursday, or JPY 2,400 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays. Tickets were separate from daytime admission.

Plan daytime viewing and the night event separately

The night program used Tokugawa Masako as its theme, with projection mapping on historic architecture and displays involving light, sound, and scent. Illuminated Ninomaru Garden was included. Day and night visits operated in separate sessions with different areas; a daytime ticket did not allow simply remaining for the evening event.

Standard night ticket Price Conditions to check
Monday–Thursday JPY 2,000 High-school students and older; excluding Japanese public holidays
Friday–Sunday and Japanese public holidays JPY 2,400 High-school students and older
Preschool, elementary, and junior-high students Free No separate ticket required; junior-high students should bring proof

The table gives standard prices for purchases from October 23. Early-discount sales ended October 22 at 11:59 p.m. Junior-high students needed documentation establishing school status or birth date. The organizer advised visitors of junior-high age and younger to come with a guardian or responsible person aged at least 18; elementary-school children could not enter alone.

On-site sales from 6 p.m.; avoid arriving just before last entry

The official event site listed online sellers. Nijo Castle’s ticket office also sold same-day tickets from 6 p.m. However, crowding could restrict entry or end admission before 9 p.m., even for someone already holding a ticket.

The event proceeded in ordinary rain but could be canceled in severe weather. Tickets could not be refunded or changed except for suspension/cancellation attributable to the organizer, so confirm the date and purchase conditions first. Some on-site content cost extra.

From Kyoto Station, take the subway to Nijojo-mae

Official access used the Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station, changing at Karasuma Oike to the Tozai Line for Nijojo-mae (二条城前). JR Nijo Station (二条駅) was about a 17-minute walk instead; do not confuse the similar names.

EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice

Allow for entry queues rather than arriving late after dinner. If dates are flexible, the nonholiday Monday–Thursday standard ticket was JPY 400 less. For daytime viewing too, plan its separate ticket and the evening entry time together, then check official updates before departure.
