For cosmetics, watches or luxury shopping in Tenjin, the original report introduced Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin’s foreign-visitor privilege. Its official Japanese notice stated that from October 1, 2026, foreign visitors presenting a passport or other required document could receive 5% off at eligible departments. It was not a storewide offer: Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Chanel cosmetics and other brands were excluded.

Passport Presentation and a 5% Privilege at Eligible Departments
Check the Brand and Product before Payment

The source identified selected luxury-brand, cosmetics and watch departments. The notice checked on October 6, 2026 did not show an end date. The article advised rechecking official information before travel and asking about the actual item before payment.

1. Check the Required Documents and Eligible Departments

The Japanese notice defined the audience as foreign visitors to Japan and required documents such as a foreign passport or landing permission. A separate official Korean page described a passport-based 5% discount limited to luxury, cosmetics and watch departments. Nationality alone did not establish eligibility; visitor status and the required documents still needed to be checked. Likewise, this translation does not infer eligibility for every U.S. passport holder or resident situation.

Scope Reported in the Official Privilege Notice
Eligible DepartmentsSelected luxury-brand, cosmetics and watch departments at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin, with some brands and products excluded.
DocumentsA foreign passport, landing permission or other specified document. The report recommended showing the document and planned purchase to staff before payment.
Discount5% off eligible department checkout amounts. It was not described as a storewide discount including all food and souvenir purchases.
Minimum PurchaseNo separate amount was stated in the checked privilege notice. This should not be confused with the tax-free purchase threshold.
Combining BenefitsThe reviewed notice did not specify compatibility with other coupons or membership benefits, or a discount cap.

For a simple example, 5% off an eligible JPY 10,000 amount is JPY 500, leaving JPY 9,500. This is not a product-price quotation and excludes tax refunds, fees and other benefits.

2. Check Excluded Brands by Floor

Even products in a generally eligible category could belong to an excluded brand. The detailed list appeared in the Japanese notice rather than the shorter Korean introduction, so the source recommended checking both.

Exclusions in the Official Japanese Notice — Checked October 6, 2026
Main Building, 1FRolex (ロレックス), Tiffany (ティファニー), Chaumet (ショーメ), Mikimoto (ミキモト), Berluti (ベルルッティ), and Officine Universelle Buly cosmetics (オフィシーヌ・ユニヴェルセル・ビュリー)
East Building, 1FLouis Vuitton (ルイヴィトン), Cartier (カルティエ), Bulgari (ブルガリ), Chanel cosmetics (シャネル), and Obagi (オバジ)
East Building, 2FChrome Hearts (クロムハーツ)
East Building, 4FThe notice directed customers to staff for details. It did not establish that the entire floor was excluded.
Sale Goods and Service Charges Were Excluded Too

Sale merchandise and charges such as delivery, alterations and repairs were outside the privilege. The notice also mentioned other excluded brands or items, so absence from the list did not guarantee eligibility.

3. October 1 Was the Effective Date, Not a Stated End Date

The Japanese notice said ‘from October 1, 2026.’ The original report could not establish when the page was first published or updated, so it did not claim the program itself was first created that day.

The page checked on October 6 showed no end date. That did not guarantee unchanged conditions until any future trip. The source recommended checking before departure and again at the store on purchase day.

4. Tax-Free and Payment Conditions Needed Separate Checks

The privilege notice linked to separate tax-free guidance, with its own customer, goods, spending and document requirements and fee information. The 5% privilege and tax-free treatment could not simply be added to claim a 15% overall saving.Whether each applied to the actual item and the final payment/refund after fees needed checking with the store and tax-free counter.

The service information identified the tax-free counter as Main Building B1 and listed the purchased goods, same-day receipts, the purchaser’s own passport and the payment card as necessary. Conditions and counter hours needed checking for the travel date, rather than assuming the page’s terms or refund rate would remain unchanged.

The store listed cards including Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express, with some product restrictions. This did not guarantee approval of every overseas-issued card or compatibility with the discount. For a high-value purchase, the source advised checking the planned card and item with the store.

5. Plan the Tenjin Route and Available Language Support

The address is 1-4-1 Tenjin, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka (福岡市中央区天神1-4-1). Official access guidance named Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, Tenjin-minami Station on the Nanakuma subway line and bus stops such as Tenjin Daimaru-mae. Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin on Google Maps can help compare the store with your accommodation and next stop.

The source’s official service page said the Main Building 1F information desk had staff able to speak English, Chinese and Korean. This was not a guarantee of continuous language support at every sales counter. The original advised using the information desk and preparing the brand and product name when asking about conditions.

  • Recheck the effective period and exclusions in the official Japanese notice before departure.
  • Before paying, ask whether the brand and item qualify and present the required documents.
  • Check other coupons or membership benefits, the payment card and tax-free compatibility separately.
  • For tax-free processing, prepare goods, receipts, passport and payment card, then check the counter’s rules on that day.

EDITOR'S NOTE · EVERYDAY TRIP

EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s Advice in the Original Report

Check the Planned Item First

For cosmetics or watches, identify the brand and product before comparing exclusions. A trip focused on food or gift snacks should not reduce its budget on the assumption of this privilege. If an item is excluded, compare other stores’ prices and benefits.

Combine Shopping with a Tenjin Day

If accommodation or other plans are near Tenjin, combine the visits. Before adding a special round trip for a discount, count transport costs and time. Leave time for information-desk assistance and tax-free processing if needed.

Check the Notice before Travel and the Amount before Payment

No stated end date is not a promise of availability on your trip. Recheck official notices, then the item’s privilege, card and tax-free conditions at checkout. Decide whether the price still makes sense without the anticipated saving before committing.
