Ginowan Marina, Okinawa: Yachts and a Hawaii-Like Atmosphere

Originally published · Korean source last modified

In central Okinawa, Ginowan Marina is lined with beautiful yachts.

It is not a particularly famous or widely known sightseeing stop, but it has an atmosphere that feels far removed from everyday Japan.

American Village is nearby, and I also heard a rumor that most of the yachts and cruisers belonged to foreign owners.

An older gentleman trying to tempt me aboard his yacht—just kidding.

The waters around Ginowan Port Marina include inhabited and uninhabited islands to cruise around, making the area well suited to marine activities such as diving, snorkeling, and fishing.

Many travelers come to Okinawa each year for the blue waters of the Kerama Islands, including Zamami and Tokashiki.

Ginowan Marina also offers convenient access to the Kerama Islands, making it a place to experience a distinctive side of Okinawa.
