The original report described foreign-visitor coupons collected by showing a passport on JR Hakata Station’s third floor before November 1, 2026. JR Hakata City shopping reductions were JPY 250, 500, or 1,000 by spending tier, while eligible restaurants offered JPY 500 off meals of at least JPY 2,000.

The stated audience was foreign tourists visiting Japan. The August–November distribution covered in the original report ran through November 1, 2026, while coupon validity continued through March 31, 2027. These are source dates; the separate official-source update adds the earlier July distribution phase without guaranteeing stock.
Distribution was for foreign tourists in Japan, at the exchange counter beside the third-floor JR Hakata City information desk from 10:00 to 20:00. Only the person who obtained it could use it; transfer was prohibited.
Three shopping tiers
Each tier was about 4.5% of the minimum qualifying spend. The official information did not establish whether spending at different stores could be combined; the original therefore based the comparison on one transaction at one shop.
Dining: JPY 500 off at JPY 2,000
One coupon could be used for one payment at an eligible restaurant. At the threshold, the reduction was 25%, larger proportionally than the shopping coupon. The source advised checking whether the actual ramen shop, izakaya, café, or restaurant participated before ordering.
The ninth- and tenth-floor restaurant area at JR Hakata City qualified for the dining coupon. For a meal with a view or a dinner reservation, the original advised showing the coupon to staff before entering.
All shops in Hakata Deitos’s Hakata Menkaido, Hakata Horoyoi-dori, and dining/bar areas qualified for the dining coupon. However, every Menkaido shop was excluded from the shopping GUEST COUPON.
Eligible cafés accepted it, excluding McDonald’s. At AMU EST, Ueshima Coffee and Mister Donut were listed for the dining coupon.
Deitos Annex restaurants also qualified for the dining coupon. Its FamilyMart store and Station Clinic were excluded from the shopping coupon.
Main areas covered by the shopping coupon
Shops in each facility were generally eligible, subject to an official exclusion list including FamilyMart, McDonald’s, the cinema, and some service and medical premises.
All Kuten restaurants were also in the shopping GUEST COUPON area. Dining had its separate coupon conditions, so the source advised comparing which single coupon was better before payment.
Both facilities generally qualified, but all Hakata Menkaido shops were excluded from shopping coupons. For ramen meals, the relevant comparison was the dining coupon’s JPY 2,000 threshold.
These generally qualified, with exclusions for some station shops, convenience stores, Miniyon, Trandor, and some souvenir stores. The original advised showing the coupon image at the register first.
Distinguish distribution dates from validity
November 2, 2026–January 31, 2027 was outside the announced distribution windows. Use of an already collected coupon depended on validity and on-site instructions; travelers in the gap should not assume a fresh distribution.
Use restrictions easy to miss
- Present your own passport for both collection and use
- One coupon per payment
- Cannot combine with other discounts
- No change if the payment is less than the coupon value
- No cash exchange or transfer
- Excluded uses include gift certificates, gift vouchers, revenue stamps, postage stamps, tobacco, parking fees, and top-ups
- Products bought with the coupon were generally nonreturnable
- Some stores were excluded; confirm with staff before payment
EDITOR'S NOTE · EVERYDAY TRIP
EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice
Looking for a coupon after shopping or eating could be too late to apply it. The source suggested including the counter beside third-floor information early after arriving by airport transport or Shinkansen, with a passport.
Shopping began at JPY 5,500, while dining offered JPY 500 off from JPY 2,000. Rather than ordering unnecessarily to reach JPY 2,000, check whether the meal you actually want meets the threshold.
Tax-free and coupon-eligible stores were not identical. Ask the register whether the desired item qualifies for either and whether combination is allowed, then compare the actual final payments.
The August–November period ended November 1, and the next announced distribution began February 1, 2027. The original advised winter visitors not to budget on fresh coupons during the gap and to recheck official information before departure.
