The original guide recommended SUNQ Pass for traveling around Kyushu by unlimited highway buses, regular route buses, and some ferries, saving transport costs while reaching different areas. It described even longer covered journeys as available without an additional fare. It also reported a shift from paper tickets to a digital pass from October 2024 for use on a phone. On first use, press the use button on the phone to activate it, then show the screen to the driver when boarding or leaving the bus. One reported advantage of the digital version was nonconsecutive use: a 2-day pass within 3 days, a 3-day pass within 5 days, or a 4-day pass within 7 days. This allowed a more relaxed schedule. Some highway bus routes required advance reservations, so the original advice was to check and reserve before traveling. These are the original guideโs descriptions, not a newly verified statement of current coverage or activation rules.

The original guide also listed partner gifts beyond transport. Examples were motsunabe restaurant Rakutenchi and Fukuya in Dazaifu, known for mentaiko. It reported that showing SUNQ Pass at Rakutenchi brought a serving of champon noodles, while Fukuya gave a small confection. These are historical partner-benefit statements in the source; current availability has not been checked.
