Tiger Curry — Akarenga Terrace (タイガーカレー 赤れんがテラス店)

Tiger Curry in Akarenga Terrace is around a five-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station. The popular vegetable-and-shrimp curry combines varied vegetables with shrimp-based broth. Its casual atmosphere works for solo diners or a straightforward meal. An option worth considering when you want a different kind of meal during a Sapporo trip.

Ushitei — Sapporo Factory (札幌牛亭 サッポロファクトリー店)

On Sapporo Factory’s first floor, Ushitei is known for hamburger steak. Cooked to order and served on an iron plate, it stays warm as you eat. The set included soup, salad and a drink; JPY 250 extra added a local Sapporo Classic beer. Finishing the meat on the hot plate adds a hands-on element, and its tender texture is especially appealing for meat lovers. Follow the restaurant’s serving instructions rather than this description as food-safety guidance.

Soup Curry Argo (スープカレーアルゴ)

In a lane near Susukino Station, Argo is a very small soup-curry shop, described as three counter seats and two tables. It was open late and run by the owner alone, with a quiet, brisk flow from ordering to eating. Fried vegetables and a chicken leg top the bowl, and you can choose the heat level. Rice can be enjoyed with lemon or a soft-cooked egg for another change of flavor.

Soup Curry Hige Danshaku (スープカリーひげ男爵)

The source describes Hige Danshaku as a Sapporo soup-curry shop selected among Japan’s top 100 restaurants for five consecutive years; the specific award edition is not supplied here. Its basic menu was JPY 1,100, with a playful JPY 100 discount for customers with a beard. Japanese dashi-style broth accompanies fried fish, squid rings and vegetables. A nori ‘mustache’ on the rice is its humorous signature. It felt a satisfying, approachable meal for the price.

Okushiba Shoten — Ekimae Soseiji (スープカレー奥芝商店 駅前創成寺)

For Sapporo’s signature soup curry, the author recommends Okushiba Shoten. The source describes a rich broth made using 2,000 shrimp a day, a production claim not independently rechecked here. A shrimp mascot at the entrance makes a popular photo spot. Grilled, fried and steamed vegetables offer varied textures, while hamburger steak and cheese toppings make the meal more substantial.

Tendon Tenya — New Chitose Airport (天丼てんや 新千歳空港店)

Tenya at New Chitose Airport suits travelers wanting a quick, simple meal. Its reasonably priced tempura rice bowls include ingredients such as shrimp, squid and pumpkin, with miso soup and pickled radish alongside. Shichimi seasoning on the table lets you adjust the flavor. It is a practical airport stop when balancing time and budget.

Fukutei — New Chitose Airport (ふく亭 新千歳空港店)

Fukutei is known here for seafood kamameshi, rice cooked in an individual pot. Oyster, scallop, salmon, squid, shrimp, mushrooms and other ingredients make a varied meal. Dashi and condiments accompany the rice, allowing an ochazuke-style finish or extra chili for heat. The clean interior and prompt service made it an easy stop between journeys in the source experience.

Kita Curry — New Chitose Airport (キタカレー 新千歳空港店)

This airport soup-curry shop is convenient while traveling through New Chitose. Chicken comes with potatoes, corn, eggplant and other vegetables. The vegetables have a soft, conventionally cooked texture. The chicken is tender enough to separate easily with a fork, and moist as well. An appropriate choice when you have time for a relaxed airport meal.

Soup Curry GARAKU — New Chitose Airport (スープカレーGARAKU 新千歳空港店)

GARAKU specializes in Hokkaido soup curry. The original contrasts waits of more than an hour at the popular city shop with an airport branch where the author entered without waiting; that experience does not guarantee present queues. A signature bowl has a bone-in chicken leg and vegetables, accompanied by five-grain turmeric rice. Adjustable heat levels offer flexibility. It was a convenient chance to taste the local dish before departure or after arrival.

Hyottoko (ひょっとこ)

Jingisukan, Hokkaido’s grilled-lamb specialty, is a food I would recommend trying in Sapporo. Hyottoko is a reservation-based shop with many regulars, using a mesh grill over charcoal at prices the author found reasonable. We booked by telephone and enjoyed its strongly local atmosphere. The menu is simple: classic jingisukan and sides. Its dedicated sauce, garlic and chili let you focus on the lamb itself.

Farm Tomita (ファーム富田)

Farm Tomita helped make lavender part of Furano’s image. The source broadly describes blooming lavender from June to mid-August; flowering varies, so this is not a current peak-bloom forecast. I can only imagine how lovely it must be at its best. Other seasons bring different flowers, while lavender soft serve is a photogenic specialty. Lavender goods and fragrance sampling add interest across ages. The purple scenery is a defining part of the farm’s appeal.

Shirogane Blue Pond (白金 青い池)

The source places Blue Pond around two and a half hours by car from Sapporo and attributes its mysterious blue to aluminum-related light effects, a simplified explanation rather than new scientific verification. Famous internationally through a MacBook wallpaper, it also inspires blue soft serve, jelly pudding and soda. The blue cream puff looks startling but contains delicious Hokkaido cream. Nearby Shirahige Falls makes a natural companion stop.

Daikokuya — Asahikawa Fifth Avenue (旭川成吉思汗 大黒屋 旭川五丁目店)

Jingisukan is a Hokkaido staple. Around 13 minutes on foot from Asahikawa Station, Daikokuya is popular with local diners too. On the source visit, staff carefully grilled the lamb on a plate coated with lamb fat, bringing meat and vegetables together. Chili and pepper add flavor, with rice or tamago-kake-gohan—rice with raw egg—as accompaniments described in the account.

Uni Murakami — Hakodate Station (うに むらかみ 函館駅前店)

Uni Murakami is run by a sea-urchin wholesaler described as having more than 50 years of experience. Its signature uni-and-grilled-beef hitsumabushi-style bowl pairs sea urchin with Hokkaido wagyu, enjoyed in three different ways. Other dishes include flame-finished uni, crisp uni cheese balls and an uni gratin with a distinctive texture. For the flavor of the urchin itself, the indulgent additive-free fresh-uni bowl is another option; ‘additive-free’ is the source menu’s description.

Kissa Palais d’Or (喫茶 パレドール)

In Hakodate, the source highlights a giant parfait reaching up to  35centimeters in height. The number appears separately in the original layout.. The idea reportedly began as a student prank, then spread by word of mouth until people traveled from around Japan to try it.. Layers of whipped cream create its unusual appearance , and exceptionally large scale.. For me, the shop’s atmosphere and the owner’s friendly service were more memorable than any particular flavor.

Umisakura Michimaro & Ezoumi (海さくらミチマロ&蝦夷海)

Seafood is a central part of a Hokkaido visit. This seventh-floor restaurant, around two minutes on foot from JR Sapporo Station, served striking seafood rice bowls at lunch and operated as a seafood izakaya in the evening. Window seats looked over trains departing the station. The impressive bowl contained more than ten kinds of fish and seafood, offering several ways to enjoy their freshness.

Sapporo Ramen Yokocho

This well-known ramen lane brings Sapporo’s ramen shops together in one place, especially its signature miso style. The source counts 17 shops, with different approaches combining tradition and modern ideas. Among them, Shijimi’s freshwater-clam ramen delivers a burst of umami. Basil oil deepens the already savory broth, while curly, springy noodles slip down easily for a satisfying bowl.

Parfaiteria Mil — Evening Parfait Specialist (夜パフェ専門店パフェテリア ミル)

An end-of-evening parfait is a Sapporo tradition, and the source describes residents and visitors queuing here. Fruit and cream are carefully balanced, with alcohol available alongside dessert. Elegant in appearance, the parfait still felt manageable as a final treat after the day’s meals.

Yakitori Specialist Ginneko (焼鳥専門ぎんねこ)

In central Asahikawa, Ginneko has been associated with the local specialty shinko-yaki since its 1950 opening. The account recommends arriving from its 1 p.m. opening for skewers, drinks and the signature chicken. Shinko-yaki is half a young chicken, wing included, charcoal-grilled and coated in the shop’s secret sauce for a juicy finish.
